Volunteer of the Month: Beulah Batiest

Beulah has been a loyal volunteer at our Mt. Mercy dining site, serving seniors for over six years! As a resident at Mt. Mercy, Beulah not only helps with the client registration, enrollment, donation collection, service and clean-up of the lunch time meal nearly five days a week, but also calls Bingo on Wednesdays and helps out at Mt. Mercy’s thrift store. At age 81, Beulah told me that volunteering “keeps her going and motivated” and that she loves to help people out and meet new people. Even after facing recent health issues, Beulah volunteered as often as she could and is now back in full force helping at our dining site! A caregiver at heart, Beulah is described as feisty woman with lots of spunk, who is full of life. Stacey, our Mt. Mercy site coordinator, had this to say, “Beulah is friendly, caring, and willing to help in any situation. She cares about the program and our participants.” Last year she donated 369 hours of volunteer service to our program and those we serve!

Beulah, we can not thank you enough for all you have done for those in need and  are so grateful to have you as part of our Meals on Wheels family!
