Critics Have Beef About New Menu Change

In what can only be described as the most unexpected culinary move of the year, MOWWM seniors are having a cow over the newly updated menu — and they have a lot of beef about it.

Not the angry kind. The delicious kind.

Rumors began circulating the moment the first meal left the kitchen. Phone calls to Care Coordinators of “Is this really Meals on Wheels?” and “They’ve really beefed it up!” ring through daily.

One senior claimed the pot roast is “cooked so well,” [it’s] “just as they would have cooked it.” Un-bull-ievable!

Beefing Up the Menu

For years, our meals have been known for being nutritious, dependable and comforting — but this new menu? This is a full-blown flavor glow-up. Our kitchen team didn’t just raise the bar; they raised the steaks.

We introduced new meals based on client feedback, nutrition recommendations and perhaps a little kitchen ambition. So what’s on the menu? There’s a hearty beef and bean chili, a sloppy joe meal and even beef tacos to tacobout.

Of course, crafting beef dishes this good doesn’t happen by accident. It takes time, creativity and quality ingredients. And while our kitchen team can handle the seasoning, we need the community to help us moooove the meater so we can keep meals seniors love.

This Giving Tuesday, you can help us keep beef on the menu — and the smiles on our seniors’ faces. We have 11 meals on the menu that include beef and we prepare upwards of 4,700 pounds of ground beef each month at roughly $4.50 per pound! Now that’s a lot of beef! Your donation today, will support, nourish, delight and occasionally inspire dramatic reactions like, “I really love the new pot roast meal!”

If you’re ready to make a well-done impact, consider giving to MOWWM this season.

Together, we can keep our seniors happily moo-ving forward.

The Meal Causing the Most Beef? The Pot Roast.

This is the main dish responsible for the sudden spike in reviews, reactions and one strongly worded voicemail that began with, “Hats off to the beef pot roast dinner. It is the best meal ever produced.” The beef is tender and so flavorful. And the green beans are so perfectly cooked that no veggie (or senior) gets left behind.

One senior said, “I had to sit down after the first bite.”
They were already sitting down, but the sentiment still counts.

A total of 2,457 of these pot roast meals were delivered last month to homebound seniors in Kent and Allegan Counties.

The Critics (Our Clients) Weigh In

Here are a few of the beefiest reviews we’ve received so far:

“Love the beef and bean chili and the sloppy joes!”

“The new sloppy joe meal reminds me of my childhood.”

“The new menu looks great. Tacos…yeah!”

“Very glad to see chili back on the menu.”

“I really like the beef stroganoff meal!”

“Love the pot roast!”

To be clear, we don’t pay our clients for these reviews. If we did, we’d be bankrupt.

Beneath the Satire… There’s Something Serious

Yes, we’re poking fun at ourselves.
Yes, we’re milking the cow puns for all they’re worth.
But at the heart of this menu upgrade is something deeply meaningful.

Flavor matters. Nutrition matters. And giving seniors a meal they will actually want to eat that includes both? That matters most of all.

Food should bring joy — not just calories.
It should spark memory, comfort and connection.
It should feel supportive and nourishing.

That’s why we put so much energy and heart into every menu update: because our clients deserve meals that don’t just feed them but make them feel like they are not forgotten.

With your support, the MOWWM team works hard to get tasty, healthy meals to local seniors. Our Home Delivered Meals menu offers fish, poultry, and meatless options — but 11 of our 33 meals feature beef favorites like Pot Roast, Meatloaf, Tacos, Sloppy Joes, and Chili.

Our seniors are loving the new menu — and as long as they’re happy, we’ll keep raising the steaks.
