October Food Drive

The ACCESS County Wide Food Drive is a collaborative event that takes place annually throughout the month of October. Many food pantries come together to organize the collection of food and personal care donations in their geographical areas of the county. The goal of the food drive is to provide emergency support to families and the elderly in Kent County and to raise awareness of food insecurities in the community. Local businesses, churches, schools, farm markets, grocery stores, and neighborhoods are some of the participants involved in the food drive. Overall, the drive collects over 90 tons of donations each year!

The Meals on Wheels Western Michigan senior food pantries has been a recipient of the food drive for over 14 years! The food collected will keep our shelves stocked for 4-6 weeks.

Thank you 2017 participants!

In October 2016, our participants collected over 8,000 lbs. of food and personal care items. This year’s goal is to collect 12,000 lbs.! If you would like to support the elderly, please consider dropping off a donation to any of these locations during normal business and school hours.

You, too, can donate to Meals on Wheels’ Senior Pantries at one of our partner participants (listed above), or by donating at our main office located on 2900 Wilson Ave. SW, Suite 500 in Grandville. Some of the things we are collecting include: low sodium canned vegetables, low sugar canned fruits, peanut butter, rice, 100% juice, bagged beans, canned meat, whole grain, pet food, cereal/oatmeal, personal care items, and cleaning supplies.
