WOODTV8 Day of Caring!

Friday, June 14th, 2019 was a special day for our team at Meals on Wheels Western Michigan. We had the privilege of hosting WOODTV8 for their annual Day of Caring event! We had two groups of seven WOODTV8 staff, including on-air anchors, volunteer in our kitchen throughout the day, as well as five volunteers ride along with some of our drivers to deliver meals! Our staff and clients alike were surprised and delighted to meet and chat with these local celebrities that bring us our news and weather each day. Altogether, the volunteers that served in our kitchen made over 1,700 home delivered meals for our clients! The volunteers that rode along with our drivers, helped deliver their regular Friday routes and had the opportunity to engage and connect with some our clients. On-air anchors, Casey Jones and Jordan Cooper were able to stop and chat with one of our clients, Bob Bolt, about everything from our meal delivery, the Detroit Tigers, FDR, his career as a college professor and the importance of always seeing the glass half full in life. And there’s no doubt that they made his day, stopping in to chat with him for a while. We are so proud of the work that we do at Meals on Wheels Western Michigan and are so thankful for the opportunity to share it with our community through the lens of the amazing WOODTV8 volunteers. We are so grateful and appreciative of their time spent with us!
