This event was part of the national #MarchforMeals campaign by Meals on Wheels America, which aims to raise awareness about senior hunger and isolation and celebrate the crucial services provided by Meals on Wheels.
The second annual March for Meals Community Walk and 5k Run was a family-friendly event that aimed to support the health and independence of seniors in Western Michigan. We were excited to add a timed 5k run to the event for the first time. The walk was a 2-mile loop, and the 5k run was on that same loop, just extending a bit further into the park.
We awarded prizes for our 5k overall and age-group winners. We are also challenged attendees to come dressed as a food item. Awards were given to the best-dressed adult, kiddo, and doggo participants.
The event was a success! Thanks to all of the support, 296 people registered to attend, and the event managed to raise over $31,000 for the seniors in our community! Thank you for making 2023 a success!
