Health Challenges

  • 1 in 4 seniors have an ambulatory disability, affecting their ability to move around or prepare meals.
  • 63% of Medicare participants age 65+ have three or more chronic conditions, such as diabetes and heart disease.
  • Older adults are at a higher risk of malnutrition due to health factors like decreased appetite, mobility limitations, and the effects of prescription medication.

Financial Challenges

  • Almost half of all single seniors age 65+ lack income to pay for basic living needs, such as housing, groceries, and utilities.
  • Older Americans are living longer with less money, and 1 in 4 seniors lives alone.
  • Many Older Americans rely solely on Supplemental Security Income, which only replaces approximately 40% of pre-retirement income.

Preliminary Architectural Renderings

Meal Assembly

Doubling meal assembly space and adding cutting-edge equipment will allow our staff and volunteers to plate and package more meals than ever before.

Kitchen & Ovens

High-volume, advanced equipment will allow us to prepare more meals, with greater efficiency, expand menu options, and create a streamlined workflow that transforms our kitchen operations. Enclosing the dish room will be a huge improvement in safety and sanitation.

Freezers & Coolers

A new high-capacity freezer that holds up to 65,000 meals triples our ability to store meals. Replacing our rapidly aging cook’s prep cooler will serve our kitchen team for many years to come.

Dry Storage

Doubling space for dry storage in our kitchen pantry means purchasing in bulk at reduced prices. This increased space will also improve efficiency and productivity for the kitchen team.
