Chef’s Specialty

Chef’s Specialty is one of Meals on Wheels Western Michigan’s signature events. It is a time for our closest supporters and new friends to come together in a fun atmosphere to support our community seniors living healthy and independently in their own homes. This event has over 250 attendees and offers a cocktail reception with hors d’oeuvres, a tribute to and cooking demonstration from our honoree – Chef Angus Campbell, meaningful words from a client, raffle prizes, and a few surprises along the way!  Join us for a Caribbean themed event with a pirate flare! Dress in your best cruise line attire or Hawaiian shirt. Guests purchase tickets to attend the event, or come as guests of sponsors.

Our Honoree: Chef Angus Campbell

Chef Angus Campbell is a City and Guilds Master Craftsmen with 45 years of experience. He has had an appreciation for food since childhood. Born on the northwest coast of Scotland, Campbell expressed an interest in cooking by shadowing his mother in the kitchen. His passion brought him to the Bahamas Hotel Training College, where he became the Department Chair for their Culinary Arts Department before moving to Grand Rapids. Campbell was hired in as a culinary arts teacher at Secchia Institute for Culinary Education. Campbell has recently retired from this role, however continues to consult for local, national, and international companies. His expertise as a culinary chef has won him countless medals from food competitions, as well as pronounced him as a junior culinary team coach. Campbell is also the co-author of the award-winning, best seller book “Modern Garde Manger”. One of his recent accomplishments was producing a 12-part series on Italian and Scottish cuisine for WZZM TV13. The monthly cable TV show won a national bronze medal at the Paragon Awards.

Chef Angus Campbell undeniably has a passion for food and helping others learn the joys of crafting a colorful, tasteful meal. We are incredibly grateful for his support of Meals on Wheels Western Michigan and are excited to honor him at this year’s Chef Specialty on June 14th!
