7th Annual Chef’s Specialty
October 27, 2021!
Every year this evening event is a time for our closest supporters and new friends to come together in a fun atmosphere to support seniors living healthy and independently in their own homes. We hope you can join us in person for this year’s 7th Annual Chef’s Specialty, where we will be honoring Shelley Irwin, with featured Chef Chris Perkey.
The event will take place at Cathedral Square Center on October 27, from 6-8pm, and will feature a strolling reception with hors d’oeuvres and an open bar. Tickets cost $75 and can be purchased online by clicking the button below. Please reply by October 13. If you can’t join us, we hope you will still consider making a donation.
Meet Honoree – Shelley Irwin
Shelley is an award-winning host and producer for The WGVU Morning Show, Family Health Matters and Kalamazoo Lively Arts. She believes strongly in giving back to her community. Shelley is serving her second term on our Board of Directors, currently as vice chair, and is passionate about supporting the mission of Meals on Wheels Western Michigan.

Shelley has represented the U.S. in the Long Distance Triathlon and Duathlon World Championships. In her free time she loves to swim, bike, run and pet her rescue animals.
Meet Featured Chef – Chris Perkey
Chef Perkey is an award-winning chef and restaurant owner with over 40 years of experience in the kitchen. Starting at age 12 working at a small restaurant in his hometown of Waukegan, Illinois, he then moved to Chicago where he grew his knowledge of Italian wines and wood-burning ovens working in world-renowned restaurants. After moving to West Michigan for the opening of Bistro Bella Vita, Chef Perkey and his wife went off on their own and opened EGR Firehouse Grill.
Chef Perkey now owns Osteria Rossa in Grand Rapids, winning numerous Best Restaurant awards, and opened both Taverna Rossa and Saugatuck Fish Camp in Saugatuck in the summer of 2021. He also has won the Chef of the Year award from Grand Rapids Press and MLive. With a passion for sourcing quality ingredients directly from local farmers, Chef Perkey works with local growers to source even more foods right here in West Michigan.
